Hurricane Ian brought unprecedented destruction and loss of life for southern parts of Florida. But further north in the state, the coastal region where Annette and Monica live around Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg was largely spared. This didn't prevent the stress beforehand, when the storm was originally forecast as a direct hit.
